The Music Development Initiative commenced in February of 2013. This initiative originated from a seed in the heart of Wingrove Spencer, Senior Elder of Precision Center. His desire is to see each member of the Precision Center Community being exposed to and trained in both the theoretical and practical aspects of music.
Classes are given in a range of instruments including Drums, Steel Pan, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, Percussion, Vocals and Wind-Blown instruments such as the Trumpet and Saxophone. The instructors for each instrument are also members of the Community.
The first (1st) Phase of the initiative saw the unveiling of an eight (8) week program for each category of instrument. In this phase, students were exposed to the basic theoretical and practical areas of music. The second (2nd) Phase is due to commence by July 2013 and will comprise of further training and exposure. Simultaneously, new students will be added to the initiative and will see participation in a similar 8-week program as the first tier of students.
Classes run concurrently on Thursday evenings from 6 pm – 7:15pm and on Saturday's from 3 pm to 5:30 pm.
